Subway is a fast food restaurant that is well known for selling sub sandwiches and salad. It’s owned by the Doctor’s Associates, Inc but Fred DeLuca and Peter Buck where the ones who set up Subway. It is one of the fastest growing franchises in the world. With 44,882 restaurants in 112 countries as of 27th December 2016.  It was first opened on 26th August 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. It was called Pete’s Super Submarines, until 1968 when it changed to Subway. Suzanne Greco is the current CEO of Subway.


In 1965 Fred DeLuca wanted to fulfill his dream of becoming a medical doctor. Looking for ways to help him pay for his education a family friend suggested to open a sub sandwich shop. With a loan of $1,000 from Dr Peter Buck, he offered to become Fred’s business partner to help change the image of the fast food industry.

They set a goal of having 32 stores opened in 10 years. Fred soon learned the basics of running a business, as well as the importance of serving a well-made, high quality product, providing excellent customer service, keeping operating costs low and finding great locations. These early lessons continue to serve as the foundation for successful SUBWAY® stores around the world.

My Experience

 It is pretty straight forward in getting your food. All you need to do is go up to the counter and tell the staff what you want. They will make it there and then for you while working your way along the counter.
Some members of staff don’t always pay attention to what you are saying and lose concentration easily and get your order wrong or ask the person behind you what salad you want on your sub even thought its not their order and you have no idea who the person is. That can be annoying as it’s not as if you are going to stand in the queue for the sake of it and not order anything or ask them for something you don’t want or don’t like.

All the food is fresh and the bread is make on site so you car’t complain that it’s not fresh because it is. Some members of staff do need to improve on their skills in putting your sub or salad together as sometimes it can look messy and looks like a 3-5 year old has put it together and not and adult. It makes all the fresh food look not so appetizing to eat even though its all fresh.
